Coconut oil Virgin vs Refined… is there a difference?

Coconut oil has become increasingly popular in many households.

Coconut oil is made from pressed white meat of the coconut.

There are two different types:

Virgin Coconut oil: is made from pressing the oil out of raw fresh coconuts. The coconut meat is cold-pressed and goes through a filtration process.  This form of pressing leaves all the good micro-nutrients in the oil and the the coconut aroma. Most medical research on the health benefits of coconut oil is based on the usage of Virgin oil.

 Refined Coconut oil: is made from pressing dried coconut meat otherwise known as ‘copra’. This method consists of alot of refining removing the coconut taste and most of it’s micro-nutrients. This form of coconut oil is much cheaper than Virgin coconut oil.
