I recently received this amazing, easy to use thermometer from Chicco.
I will never forget the first time our little boy had a fever. As new parents we were so worried. Checking his temperature every few minutes, calling our doctor and treating him with pain and fever medication. I don’t think I got any sleep that night and I kept waking him up while trying to check his temperature. As the months went by we no longer panicked but took the necessary steps to break his fever. The only one thing that remained was the struggle to check his temperature. Like most babies, he hates getting his temperature checked and will literally wiggle his way out of it.
With so many different thermometers on the market as a new parent it can be hard to choose.
Here are some important things to consider when purchasing the right thermometer.
Easy to use: I found this thermometer very easy to use especially when baby is tossing and turning in distress. Checking a baby’s temperature when they are ill can be very difficult, especially when all baby wants is to be comforted in your arms.
Detecting a high temperature early can prevent serious illness. Accuracy is extremely important in order to act accordingly. This could be a matter of life or death. When baby has a dangerously high fever you should be able to alert your doctor / pediatrician immediately and give them an accurate reading from the thermometer. One feature that I absolutely loved was that the Chicco My Touch thermometer has a large LED bar that will light up in 3 different colours according to the temperature reading and if the baby’s temperature is dangerously high over 37.5 degrees, it will notify you with 3 beeping sounds.
Monitoring baby’s temperature over time especially if medication has been given is very important. The Chicco My Touch Thermometer is able to keep a record of 25 readings over a period of time. This is very important to know if your baby’s temperature is dropping or increasing. Most doctors or nurses will ask you to write down the recorded temperatures until the temperature has normalised.
Time is extremely important when checking your baby’s temperature. The Chicco My Touch thermometer takes only 5 seconds and can be used to gently monitor baby while he/she is sleeping. This is great for monitoring baby’s temperature during the night.
With a very clever design the thermometer is non invasive, fits between your fingers and gently reads baby’s temperature when placed on the temple. This way you can hold baby in your loving arms to soothe their distress while checking their temperature with ease.
